With an upbeat charm and sunny
harmonies, Anna Bengo is a London based
singer/songwriter with a knack for producing feelgood
pop tunes.
Across three songs here, she makes a pleasant first
impression; nothing breathtaking or groundbreaking, but
great all the same.
UNFORGIVEN sounds like a mainstream pop hit in
the making, Anna Bengo delivering sun drenched melodies
over catchy guitar strokes.
STRONG and
SOMETIME are
slicker sounding affairs, gentle acoustic guitars and
feather light harmonies; a sound somewhere between
Corrine Bailey Rae and Katie Mulua, all very daytime
radio friendly.
These are songs that feel very much in the embryonic
stages, songs you feel will benefit greatly from time,
experience and some musical spit and polish to flesh
them out.
An impressive sounding start, Anna Bengo certainly has
the voice and the songwriting skill to launch her into
bigger things, and with some time and experience she'll
surely find herself stepping into a wider limelight in
the not too distant future.

So who is Anna Bengo? A breath of
fresh air on the music scene, her upbeat melodies mark
her out as the "feelgood friend" - someone who's
positive and feisty and with her big chorus hooks -
ready to be heard.
Born and bred in London, Anna developed an early love of
performance and did everything from acting to writing
comedy. After doing a course in Popular Arts, Anna
realised her path lay in music.
"That's when everything came together for me," she says,
"I realised that music would enable me to express all
the things that I loved: melody, words and movement."
She began honing her writing skills, experimenting with
demos in a bid to discover a definitive sound. She found
herself able to write in many genres and began crafting
that unique blend of Pop, Rock and Funk that she
performs today. During this creative period, she was
performing acoustic version of her songs in London, and
meeting other talented musicians in the process.
She joined a few projects; formed some of her own and by
November 2005, she had a band. Buoyed by this success,
she put together her own website www.annabengo.com and
is making her assault on the London circuit.
"I'm performing my songs and I've got great musicians
behind me." she says, "I'm just so positive at the
moment. It's my time!" |
